Common Ailments Treated by Icon Wellness:

Soft Tissue Injuries - Soft tissue injuries (STI) are when trauma or overuse occurs to muscles, tendons or ligaments. Most soft tissue injuries are the result of a sudden unexpected or uncontrolled movement like stepping awkwardly off a curb and rolling over your ankle.

Fractures - A fracture is a break, usually in a bone. If the broken bone punctures the skin, it is called an open or compound fracture. Fractures commonly happen because of car accidents, falls, or sports injuries. Other causes are low bone density and osteoporosis, which cause weakening of the bones

Neck Pain - Neck pain: Neck pain is the sensation of discomfort in the neck area. Neck pain can result from disorders of any of the structures in the neck, including the cervical vertebrae and intervertebral discs, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, esophagus, larynx, trachea, lymphatic organs, thyroid gland, or parathyroid glands.

Lower Back Pain - Low back pain is pain, muscle tension, or stiffness localized below the costal margin and above the inferior gluteal folds, with or without sciatica, and is defined as chronic when it persists for 12 weeks or more.

Frozen Shoulder, Impingement & Rotator Cuff Injuries - A frozen shoulder is one that has become stuck and limited in movement. Frozen shoulder is often caused by inflammation of the capsule, tissue surrounding the shoulder joint.

Knee, Wrist, & Foot Pain - Knee, Wrist, & Foot pain is a common complaint that affects people of all ages. Pain may be the result of an injury, such as a ruptured ligament or torn cartilage. Medical conditions — including arthritis, gout and infections — also can cause pain. Many types of minor pain respond well to self-care measures.

Degenerative Joint Changes - The degeneration of cartilage means that bones lose their cushioning. They are then vulnerable to rubbing against one another within the joint. As a result, the joint area becomes inflamed and painful, leading to a decrease in mobility. In addition, bone spurs, or pieces of bone, may form around the joint.

Postural Pain - Postural lower back pain is any pain or discomfort in the lower back area that is caused by long standing poor posture.

Sports Injuries - Sports injuries refer to the kinds of injury that occur during sports or exercise. While it is possible to injure any part of the body when playing sports, the term sports injuries is commonly used to refer to injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

Pregnancy Related Musculoskeletal Pain - What are the symptoms of musculoskeletal pain during pregnancy? Women often experience low back pain, pelvic pain, sacroiliac joint pain and/or hip pain during pregnancy. Pain can occur at the front or the back of the pelvis and can be achy, sharp, radiating or burning.

Geriatric Problems - What are geriatric problems? As we age, we become more likely to develop different kinds of health problems. These are called geriatric syndromes, which are problems that usually have more than one cause and involve many parts of the body.

Plantar Fascitis - Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated (inflamed).

Spondylosis - Spondylosis is age-related change of the bones (vertebrae) and discs of the spine. These changes are often called degenerative disc disease and osteoarthritis. These changes don't always cause symptoms. But they are a common cause of spine problems that can range from mild to severe.

Tennis Elbow - Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is a painful condition that occurs when tendons in your elbow are overloaded, usually by repetitive motions of the wrist and arm.

ACL Rehabilitation - Physical therapists are trained to help individuals with ACL tears reduce pain and swelling, regain strength and movement, and return to desired activities.

Arthritis - Arthritis means inflammation or swelling of one or more joints. It describes more than 100 conditions that affect the joints, tissues around the joint, and other connective tissues. Specific symptoms vary depending on the type of arthritis, but usually include joint pain and stiffness.
